ZAPHIRE is an Australian bohemian fashion boutique offering clothing and accessories for women, men and children.
Born in Kuranda Village, nestled in Far North Queensland’s world heritage rainforest, we share soulful, free-spirited fashion both in-store and online with customers across Australia and beyond.
We are ZAPHIRE, woven from sunlight, ocean breezes, and stories of faraway markets. We exist for the free spirits, the wanderers, the dreamers who choose clothing not just to wear, but to feel.
Here, you’ll find soulful bohemian treasures with a tropical twist. Pieces that flow with you through barefoot mornings, vibrant adventures, and quiet evenings under the stars. Each one is thoughtfully crafted by artisans in Bali, Thailand, India and beyond, carrying with it the heartbeat of culture, community, and connection.
ZAPHIRE was born from the creative journey of Jodie, who has been immersed in the fashion industry for over 20 years. It began in a little hippy shop on the Gold Coast, where she first learned to sew on an old foot-treadle machine. From there, she studied Fashion Design,building skills in pattern making, millinery, sewing and merchandising before creating dance costumes that helped little girls feel like superstars.
Returning to her tropical hometown of Cairns, Jodie turned her creativity to visual merchandising, styling store windows by day and selling her overseas travel finds at country markets on the weekends. Her love of travel and culture soon led her to Kuranda, where she opened a humble little boutique in the rainforest, a dream that has since blossomed into the ZAPHIRE you know today.
Now located on the main street of Kuranda and expanding into the online world, ZAPHIRE continues to evolve. We are designing our own label, supporting Australian designers, and nurturing long-standing partnerships with family-run artisans in Bali and Thailand.
At the heart of it all, our purpose remains the same: to remind women of their beauty, their power, and their wonderful diversity. We believe in fashion created with intention — rooted in authenticity, respectful of culture, and fair to the hands who bring it to life.
